What a great way to spend some time watching small aircraft land and taxi at Albert Witted airport, while having a delicious breakfast, lunch or dinner. It is a Cafe by Day and a Bistro by Night. The Hangar is located on the second floor of Albert Whitted Airport in St. Petersburg on the waterfront. During dinner on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening, Hot Summer Jazz is presented. This Saturday will be Tommy Johnson. You can watch their April 10, 2010, grand opening slide show on their website. Wednesday is $5. burger lunches, not a small burger, mind you. The airport has airplane rides available for sightseeing, and the rates are reasonable. They also have Saturday night helicopter rides provided by Safari Choppers, from 6PM to 9PM, $29 per person. The Hangar has a frequent flyer Club, where you receive one punch on your membership card for each visit. 10 punches and get a free dinner. For all you airplane buffs, this is a very nostalgic walk back in time.. As you enter, there are two display cases with mannequins dressed in the old style pilot uniforms. The tables and chairs are similar to the ones found in airports in the 50's and 60's.
